It’s been a long while since my last post here now that all of the 2017 film festival submission results for Frankenfriend have come back (33 in all!) and yielded four official selections, two awards nominations, and even placement as a semifinalist in one case by the year’s end. I thought I’d had a pretty good run of things considering that I’d rallied some friends and co-workers on a Saturday to film this short in my house and out in my garage for a contest . . . now on to the next project, right?
That’s what I thought until I got completely blindsided less than 72 hours ago by the news that Frankenfriend is an official selection of the Nice International Filmmaker Festival 2018, which I’d submitted to about six months ago and thought for sure that I didn’t stand a ghost of a chance of getting in. I was quite surprised to say the least because I couldn’t have been more wrong! This is truly a milestone for me as I’ve submitted short films to at least 60 festivals for consideration since 2012 and this was the first selection I’d gotten for a festival that was outside of the United States – in the FRENCH RIVIERA, no less!!! Break out the Bordeaux. Break out the champagne! Celebrations are in order!
Per the festival schedule that was just released yesterday, Frankenfriend will be showing on Tuesday May 8th at 11:50 a.m. in Screening Room 3. Time to submit an expedited passport renewal . . .
Vive la France!
