Happy Halloween, Frankenfriends!
It’s been a couple of months since my last update here and during that period Frankenfriend picked up several more rejections from various film festivals across the globe (including England, Belgium, Romania, and Australia), was chosen as a semi-finalist for the 2017 American Horror Film Festival, and screened in Louisville, KY during the 2017 Imaginarium creative writing convention over Columbus Day weekend. It also made alumni news in September from my alma mater Full Sail University, which you can read about here!
Now that Halloween is coming to a close, I didn’t want to end the night without reflecting it was one year ago tonight when I found out Frankenfriend won second place in the 2016 Boomtown Film and Music Festival’s Small and Creepy Film Contest. It has been a whirlwind year to say the least and I’ve been quite pleased with how everything turned out considering I had very little time and money to pull this project off. But I was determined to do so, much to the detriment of my own physical and mental well-being during the time I was making it, and now presentthe final version of this short – which includes some additional post-production work done earlier this year prior to submitting it to festivals for their consideration.
Happy Halloween everyone and I hope you enjoy my tribute to Caroline Thompson’s oeuvre, especially her collaborations with Tim Burton!
